if I decide to download a game from a torrent site like football manager 2009 for pc, is there any way to get it working on linux mint?

You could try using Wine..

No guarantees it'll work for any given program though.

search for World of Goo. They make a Linux version. A demo is free (about an hour to beat the demo). Pretty fun, 20$ for the whole thing.
