Re-enabeling USERS from previous installation

Postby raj.shah on Tue May 26, 2009 7:52 am

I had 2 USERS in LM Elisa installation on a seperate /home partition, after upgrading to LM Felicia, I am unable to set up my second user from "USERS and GROUPS" settings, whenever I try to put the old details ie. username and password for the old second user it says that "Home directory already exists, Please enter a different home directory path.". Can anyone guide me to enable back the second user account in the home directory.

Do you know the UID (User ID) in Elyssa - I am pretty sure it was 1001
That needs to be correct
In User settings add the second user as before but go to the Advanced tab and change user id to 1001
I think the applet sets it to 1002 as it sees two users there already - the first is always 1000

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
