Mint 6 to 7

Postby lonegranger on Wed May 27, 2009 2:39 pm

Hello and help - I have been running Mint 6 for sometime with no real problems. I downloaded the latest iso for Gloria last night and followed the instructions but felt it safer to install 7 next to 6 which allows me to choose which version to launch. The problem I have encountered is that when I choose to launch Gloria it displays the logon screen ok but after entering my username and password the screen goes blank with only the cursor visible which I can move around the screen. Mint 6 still works fine? Any ideas how I can overcome this as I am really keen to see what Gloria is really like.

Thanks

In grub choose Gloria recovery mode
In the menu that appears choose the option to fix X you find there
I hope that is enough
If not post back and post your lspci (note l is a lower case L)
It maybe that you have some odd hardware - not that I know some that would work OK in Felicia but not in Gloria

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
