Hey Ya'll, around this time last year I fired up Linux Mint 5 for the first time and fell in love with it. Around November, my HP crashed again (Nvidia video card once more) and I said "screw it" and went with a Mac.
Now, for the past couple months I've been just fine and dandy, but with the recent release of updated MacBook Pros and a bit of fortune on my part, I'm going to be upgrading to the MacBook Pro 17", 2.8ghz, 4gb Ram, 500gb HD @ 7200 RPM.
With my extra space, I plan on using 100gb for a partition for Linux Mint 7, not for anything intensive, just browsing, webmail, and chat. I haven't played around with this, nor have I ever even done bootcamp for windows, so while prepping for my installation I'm trying to read up on what I need to do. The only how-to I've found is about Mint 2.2.... so yeah, I'm wondering if anyone has an updated guide or can run me down the basics on here. Specifically, I want to make sure the GRUB doesn't overwrite the Apple Bootmenu... everything else I think I can fiddle my way through.
I plan on taking pictures and screenshots (and maybe even a video) to help others be able to do this successfully. I'm a huge Mint fan, I really have missed it, so I'm hoping to be able to share my experience with fellow mac users looking to spice it up a bit.

Re: Installing on a Macbook Pro
There were lots of questions about installing Mint on a Mac but that has completely stopped now
As Linux uses MBR and BIOS not EFID as Mac does, Linux does not understand the boot procedure (or what to call it) in a Mac
When you install Mint opt to put Grub on the Mint partition and all is well
That's in the last screen where your install options are summed up
In the lower right corner is a button Advanced - click it and you have the possibility to choose where to put grub
Note that you must have grub (or LILO or something similar)
I suppose you can use bootcamp to kick that partition to life - but hat's beyond my scope
