removing fortune

Post by talkeetnik »

Mint 7 seemed to have slipped fortune into use instead of asking or;
I guess I missed the previous methods of do-not-activate
I need to remove it
apt-get remove fortune gives me:

The following packages will be REMOVED:
fortune-mod fortunes-min mint-meta-gnome mint-meta-main mintinstall mintmenu
mintnanny mintsystem mintupdate mintupload mintwelcome

Seems a little drastic !?

I've looked through the CC and can't find an obvious "deactivate fortune"
I have been know to miss the obvious however hence this query.

Thanks,

WHB

Code: Select all

sudo gedit /etc/bash.bashrc
At the bottom of the file comment out or delete: /usr/bin/mint-fortune
