Hi. I installed Linux Mint 7 for the first time a couple of days ago and so far I'm liking it very much. I managed to get my wireless nic working using ndiswrapper and found out how to save my screen resolution to X when the Nvidia display settings utility told me it couldn't do it (I had to launch the utility from the the terminal with sudo access).
Anyway, my next hurdle is a lot simpler but I can't figure what I've done to cause it! After fiddling with some of the Compiz desktop/window effects, my window gadgets have vanished (close, minimize, full-screen etc that usually appear in the top right corner of each window).
Any idea what I must do to get them back?

I also noticed that I can't drag windows around either, they're stuck. I checked and I have "move window" enabled in the Compiz settings manager. What a pallava, I really hope I don't have to re-install.
Fantastic, after disabling the effects my window gadgets have returned!
I'm very pleased with this, the computer is much easier to use now but I do miss the 3d cube effect. Nevermind though, it's not as important to me as visible windows gadgets.
Edit: I've renamed the thread title to show that my problem is semi-resolved. I'll keep trying to figure how to enable the desktop effects without causing my gadgets to disappear and if anyone has any advice on this I'd appreciate any further help.
