At the bottom left corner, where "Places, Package Manager, etc. are, the entire right 1/2 that lists all available programs is...gone! I know I am an id-10-T, but what did I do to make it disappear, and what can I do to get it back??? Thanks!

Uh, I right clicked on Menu and found a selection to "show applications", checked that, then opened the Menu and chose applications---there were 3 "applications" buttons in the left pane, which disappeared as I clicked them...the first button I clicked made all the Applications appear again, whichn solved the problem, but THAT was weird...oh, well.

A tip - put <Solved> in your original post, not your last one. That way solved shows up on the Topic.
