boot up / shutdown / hibernate / suspend problems

Postby ricardino on Fri Jul 03, 2009 7:52 am

hi all, im new to linux mint, thinking id try it as a potential windows replacement. Ive been very impressed with it so far, however i seem to have continuing problem when it comes to powering up and powering down.
basically, it wont boot up or shutdown on its own, you need to hold down the enter key to do this. when it comes to hibernatating or suspending it jsut seems to hang up, i get a black screen with a flashing cursor, and thats all i get. I was wonderign if there is anyway to solve this?
any help would be appreciated.
im running linux mint 7 on a notebook computer.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Some specs on the hardware you're running would really be helpful.

If you're unsure you can post back the output of the following commands from terminal:

Code: Select all
inxi -v 5

If inxi is unavailable then:

Code: Select all
uname -a

Code: Select all
free -m

Code: Select all
df -h

Code: Select all
lspci

Code: Select all

I have problems with hibernating, it gives as error message, and I'll write it down and post next time I try it.
Maybe someone knows a solution? I've googled the problem and searched the forums, but I haven't found a solution.

Meanwhile here are my reports from the terminal:
