samba server

Postby opensrcftw on Fri Jul 10, 2009 4:27 pm

Ok, so I want to create a samba server on my distro of Mint (I'm using Gloria). I want to be able to access it over the internet using tunneling. I want to be able to access shares from both dos and unix OS's alike.

I am a complete noob at linux though, and so I wanted to ask a few questions here. This is the data I've managed to find about samaba configuration so far, will this suit my needs?

True, that article was written in regards to fedora, but I was hoping it would be valid (or similar at least) to Mint.
So, will the information I have found do the job? Or must I do something else?

Let me know!
Thanks

Marcus

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

The fedora scripts won't work on the debian/ubuntu/mint type of distribution
--so you would be better of, in Linux mint looking into the Ubuntu 9.4 (Jaunty setups for Samba server setups..

I wrote a Samba Server How-to that is based on Mint-5. It should work with Mint-7 also.

The instructions suggested Windows XP or better, so I installed Linux :)
