Found a FIx but need help applying it!!!

Ok so I found this fix on a forum to fix my sound issues on my laptop. The post states that this works on the exact model i am using... I have alsa-base.conf open in the gedit but now im not sure if i am just supposed to paste these entries directly in or what. Can someone please tell me exactly what to do with the info from the post. Here it is:

have an HP DV4-1155SE. I was able to get the sound working with the following alsa-base config:

alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m4-1

I also had to set the default mixer track device by selecting PCM. I had to do the same thing for the sound icon on the taskbar.
This worked for me on my 1275mx! thanks!

I assume I open gedit for alsa-base config and add the 3 entries above to the end of the document and save it right????

yep, that would be my assumption, but no guarantees.

Yes, just make sure you have root privileges to edit and save the file.

Glad to hear you got it working! That wasn't too bad was it? Everything I have learned I have learned by using Google and asking questions on forums just like you have done. You will learn quick, the trick is to forget everything you know about Windows because none of that will apply in a Linux environment.

Sweet thanks for the Links... Now can anyone tell me how to disable IPV6??? I dunno if its whats slowing down my net connection and causing my wireless signal to drop and then reconnect every ten minutes or what but Ive heard it slows down your internet regardless. It is strange my wireless network is fine on windows, but when Im on Mint my connection will drop off and then reconnect like 2 seconds later.. Havent been able to find anything in the forums about this, I have found some about disabling IPV6 but theres like 5 different methods and I dunno which one to try???? Any ideas on either of these areas???
