HP HDX9010NR with STAC9271. Sound

Postby Z.. on Thu Aug 20, 2009 4:02 pm

I've decided to rid my self of Microsoft, and loaded up LM KDE after testing a few other distros. My only problem that I have is my sound. I get sound out of my front two audio jacks, but none from the speakers and none from the 7.1

when I do aplay -l
Code: Select all
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: STAC92xx Analog [STAC92xx Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: STAC92xx Digital [STAC92xx Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: HDMI [HDA ATI HDMI], device 3: ATI HDMI [ATI HDMI]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

I've already edited the alsa-base.conf and added
Code: Select all
options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=hp

-Z

You are on the right track - the thing is to find the right "model" to add
You change model to what ever you have or auto or some more exotic model like in this topic
You may have to try many different "models" to get it to work - brand or model ...
Note the link to a post in the Ubuntu forums for a list of "models"
