Edit "cassandra" menu name

I love mint linux and think all of the customizations from ubuntu are awesome! Especially the special start menu thing but I have one question.. Can I edit that menu in some easy way to say start, menu or something like that instead of cassandra? I don't have anything against the name or anything but I might get a few strange looks from some people when they look at my computer.

Right click the menu, select preferences. mintmenu will be highlighted, in the right pane the 3rd value down will be applet_text named cassandra. Right click that select edit key, you will see cassandra in value pane. You can change that to read whatever you want it to say.

Unreal223 i know what you mean, the same case was to me too, I Brought my laptop at school with Linux Mint and all my friends asked me: Is Cassandra the name of your new Girlfriend? Do you find the name so pretty that you must put it on your "windows"? <- see how noobs they are XD. I have had always answered that the name came as default so and this is not m$ product, this is something more better than it.

Change applet_icon_name to something else then distributor-logo (it's in the same menu).

anyway now i have the orange ubuntu icon, it came with the mac osx theme i installed (called T-ish- ubuntulooks)

My girlfriend's sister's name is Cassandra. That's why my menu button says Linux Mint 3.0.

You may need to logoff/logon or restart the Mint-menu applet. I'm not in the Gnome version at the moment so I can't say exactly about menu restart.

Have you tried removing it from the panel and then adding it again? worked for me

I changed Cassandra to LaFawnda. The kids love it.
