Will Wine help me with the migration to Linux [SOLVED]
I've been using Mint Gloria for somewhere around a week now and most everything about the distro is excellent. The family here is the BEST! I'm still in need of advice, though. I've yet to figure out how to run my Dell 720 Photo Printer. Would the WINE program help me with this? I've tried and tried and searched, and still I'm having problems. The OS shows the progress of the page printing, but not even a noise comes from my printer. Thanks for everything in helping me along, if I can only work this printer problem out, I probably will be fine. Then I can relax and really enjoy my new OS. Thanks to all!

Hello Catilley.
Glad you're still hanging in there with Mint
I answered you in your other post - perhaps you did not see it?

Re: Will Wine help me with the migration to Linux
Thanks. dequire. I remember your post to my question now. There were several answers to this question. I also posted on the main Linux forum and Linux questions.org. For the last week, I've learned a lot, mostly from fellow Mint family members, but some also on other Linux and even one (Tom's Hardware) multi types of operating systems forum. They helped me a lot with Windows issues, however, they also help with MAC and Linux issues, as well as general hardware. I'll tell you, I feel that I've came a long way in a short time, but I still have (and always will) a lot to learn. No matter the brand or OS, you are always running into something new. You know what I mean. Again, thanks very much for the advice and link.

Search for this:
libstdc++5
And extract and use this. It's a RPM file but you can extract the binary. Apparently you need the above library and the driver to get it to work correctly.

Also, only ask one thread for the same question. Or this can happen. It can be difficult for others to have to go through info in multiple threads to find what's already been said. A suggestion is to bump the topic if it loses the front page.

Re: Will Wine help me with the migration to Linux [SOLVED]
Thanks. This information was most informative.
At first I followed these instructions:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=215657
When I used Mint 7 these worked beautifully.
Mint 8 they didn't.
I managed to get them working once.
But when I did an OS reinstall.
I had troubles again until i downloaded this libstdc++5 thing.
Did Mint 7 have it and Mint 8 not?
what exactly does libstdc++5 do?
fill me in so that i actually fully understand what I did.
