unknown plugin (audio/x-wav)

Postby SonicMonkey on Mon Nov 09, 2009 6:14 pm

So, I've been trying to view some YTMND sites recently, and every so often, the sound cannot be played. I get a little pop-up at the top of the browser-screen that looks like this:
Screenshot-YTMND - HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIAN PEPPERS! - Mozilla Firefox.png

I click on "Install Missing Plugins..." and get a message like this:

I've looked high and low, but can't find much information for this plug-in (or any .wav plug-ins) for Firefox.

Could someone simply direct me to a source of this plugin so I can continue to enjoy my YTMNDs?

Something to try . . Google gave the answer, (unknown plugin audio/x-wav) second link . . .

Type this in the terminal to remove the non-free flashplugin :

sudo apt-get remove flashplugin-nonfree

Then this to install the Adobe Flash plugin :

sudo apt-get install adobe-flashplugin

this MAY help . . ? . . regards, Richy

Sorry, man. I did all that and it did not show any results.

I find it hard to believe nobody else has had this problem and haven't been able to put in some input, if any.

nadir, probably you need mplayer, smplayer and mozilla-mplayer. The codecs are easy, gstreamer, good ,bad , ugly, ffmpeg and w32codecs. If we are talking Debian based all the other dependencies will get pulled in.

i would try mozilla-mplayer first. try if gecko-mediaplayer is availiable.

its just a guess, multimedia is a black box to me :-)

Ha! Brilliant, mate!
Just a quick repository search, and two shakes later, it's working!
Thanks a bunch!
