Postby Nerdio on Sun Nov 22, 2009 4:23 am

hello there people im a newb at linux.

So my question is why isn't the visual effects enabler working?

It just tells me that effects could not be enabled...i tried the gears thingy at the terminal and it popped up with ease but when i try to enable the visual effects it says failed..

my graphics chip is a Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA G200 AGP (rev 03)

and my desktop has 512 ram so any suggestions?

Distribution: Linux Mint 7
http://www.linuxmint.com/rel_gloria.php
Desktop environment: GNOME
Graphics chip: Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA G200 AGP (rev 03)
Driver in use: mga
Rendering method: AIGLX

Checking if it's possible to run Compiz on your system...

Checking for texture_from_pixmap... [ OK ]
Checking for non power of two support... [ OK ]
Checking for composite extension... [ OK ]
Checking for FBConfig... [ OK ]
Checking for hardware/setup problems... [FAIL]

There has been (at least) one error detected with your setup:
Error: Software Rasterizer in use

Open a terminal, type compiz-check, (enter), does it give any errors?

Your graphics card probably does not support accelerated graphics.
