Trying to get started

Post by Revontulet »

Hi friends !
Well, I finally decided to quit my Windows Vista from my laptop and try the Linux Mint Helena, but I'm finding some differences/troubles that I didn't have with Felicia.

For example, the OEM User. The installation didn't let me to put my name as a user, instead of this, the installation gave me as default user the OEM.
Well... Now, everytime I turn on my laptop, by default, I get logged with OEM user (I created my own user as administrator, and ticked all the privilegies).
I've deleted the "Oem" User, but leaving the OEM user folder in the Disk.
So, every time I have to enter with my own user created by me after that, I have to write passwords even for restart the cpu, and write the router password every time I get on.
I have to delete OEM user folder? OEM temporary user, will be deleted by himself nearly or how does it work?
I just want to have the root and my user account in this cpu (and make my own account a root user)

Thanks for the help !

Where / how did you get the LiveCD/Install CD from? I never heard of an "OEM" default user (but then again I'm a couple of generations behind in my Mint ops... :D ).

The OEM install does not work, look here (and following post).
Though it's poosible to get rid of the user OEM some permission troubles may outlast. I have an OEM installation within a VM as a system to experiment with, and sometimes I'm stuck until I take out the "su" club

@Husse: Why isn't there a single comment on this issue within the download page or the related documents?
