Slow scrolling in FF on some sites

Post by MikeA36 »

Not sure even how to describe this. When visiting some sites, not all, the scrolling down a web page becomes incredibly slow, almost like a stuttering. Sites like Youtube, and TomsHardware etc.. I am not sure what is causing this. Other sites are fine. Happens no matter the version of FF I am using. This does not happen in Mint 7 XFCE, but does in Mint 8 gnome.

Vague I know, but maybe somebody else has encountered this, and it rang a bell.. any thoughts on how to speed up the scrolling?

Thanks, Mike.

K... it has to do with images on the page. If I go into the settings in FF and turn off 'Load images automatically" it runs like it should.. but some sites, not all mind you, slow down to a crawl with images on. Very odd. Only in this distro does it do this.

I've noticed the same thing in Chromium. I never thought much about it but if this is Mint's problem it might warrant looking into.
