Switch keyboard layout

Post by lilleprins »

Hi everyone!

I've just installed Linux Mint 8 on my HP Compaq 6720s laptop. As I often have to write in different languages it is necessary that I'm able to quickly switch between different keyboard layouts.
So far, I haven't found any way to do so. Who can help?

Greetings,
lilleprins

This should be a relatively simple task - go through preferences -> keyboard preferences and click on the layouts tab. You can set as many layouts as you like and also set a hotkey to switch between them. Further, if you right click on your panel and choose "add to panel", there is a keyboard indicator/switcher applet contained therein.

You should have the Keyboard Indicator applet already on the default GNOME panel, if not right mouse the panel and add it. You will need to install the layouts you want through Keyboard preferences.

Thx a lot!
I actually did try to add the layout to the menu bar but it didn't show up in the list before.
Still, now it works, so thx again.
