I just saw that a KDE version of Mint 8 will be available soon. I love Mint, but intensely dislike Gnome. I even convinced my wife to finally try Mint. It was not as bad as she expected, but she loaths Gnome. She insists on a "Windows" like interface or she will stick with Vista on her computers. ( Long ago we looked at a Mac for her. She hated the interface and that ended any consideration of Apple.) Her machine is dual boot with Vista and Mint8, but she keeps it in Vista because of Gnome.
I previously used the KDE version of almost every prior version of Linux I explored. When the stable KDE version eventually is released, how can I "switch" to it without losing the customizations I made to Mint 8?

Short answer - you can't, a fresh install would be required though there's nothing to stop you installing alongside main edition in a separate partition and sharing a data partition between the two.Newexperimentor wrote:When the stable KDE version eventually is released, how can I "switch" to it without losing the customizations I made to Mint 8?
[Edit] your original post and add [SOLVED] once your question is resolved.
