If you use your Linux distribution's packaged version of Firefox, you will need wait for an updated package to be released to its package repository.

@ crouton351:
If you do want to try it, just wanted to mention that those are the same instructions that I used to install Firefox in Mint. Worked out perfectly. Then I put a new launcher for Firefox on my desktop (uses the command ~/firefox/firefox) to replace the launcher for the old Firefox.
I didn't uninstall the old Firefox.
For the launcher, you might have to type in the entire path name for the command -- for example, /home/[username]/firefox/firefox.

rich_roast wrote:I am unsure as to how you are using synaptic, but if that's a .tar.bz2 (or "tarballed bzip archive"), then you'll want to double-click on its icon wherever you downloaded it (by default), so as to open it with the archive utility known as file-roller. You can think of these files being similar to .zip files that you might be accustomed to if you've used winzip or something of that ilk. The archive manager will display the contained files and allow you to extract them somewhere. In the case of the theme you've obtained, there ought to be a readme contained within the archive with instructions on where to put the files and steps to take in the preferences->appearance menu to activate it. If there aren't or anything goes wrong just let us know

Well, something went wrong. D:
I restarted my computer, and now I have no docky and when I scroll over my hidden menu bar, it drops down to the middle of the screen. This is quite a fiasco.
Haha, well I adjusted my GNOME settings and now everything appears ok.

rich_roast wrote:Apologies for misreading your initial post, I thought you meant that you were trying to use synaptic to open an archive file; I assume that you were in fact installing the gnome-themes-ubuntu package. Sorry 'bout that.
Glad you've got gnome back in working order. Best of luck in your adventures
