Hello everyone. I've been distro hopping lately and ever since I switched to Linux Mint 8 my laptop hard drive runs hot. Is there any reason why this is happening or is this a well-known bug? For the record, I'm saying it's running hot because the palm area is much hotter than it ever was before back when I used Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and CrunchBang 9.04. My specs:
Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.0 GHZ
Western Digital 160GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
2 GB DDR2 RAM
Intel X3100 Integrated Graphics
Power Management Settings: I disabled the option of slowing down the hard disks when possible. Was this a bad idea?
I'm running minimal desktop settings in compiz and the "appearance" portion.
I'm wondering about this because I left my laptop on overnight plugged in, and all of a sudden when I came to use it this morning the hard drive was pretty hot. Anyone got ideas? I love this distro but if it causes my hard drive to run hot all the time I'm going to have to switch back to XP or another distro.
