how do i stop mint from acting on that command

when i press alt on the keyboard and press the right mouse button it opens up a list how do i stop it from doing that

You perhaps speak of "windows settings" (gnome-window-properties)? In there, you have the setting for moving a window in holding a key and using the mouse. Alt is the default but you can choose in place Control or the Super key (or the "Windows logo"). Hope this helps.
P.S.= I'm not in Mint now, I'm in CentOS but should find it, I guess!

yeah thanx for the help it was invaluable i new it was something simple i had gust spent to-much of my time i.e. 30min fooling with it.
