Lost - + x SOLVED
Could someone help please! I have lost the minimise, maximise and close symbols from the top r/hand corner of all my open windows ( no idea what happened)! The last thing I did was to uninstall Compiz from my laptop. I have no use for this programme. I am running LM8 with Gnome desktop and shikiwise. Btw i have just spotted that some windows do not have the black bar across the top of the window. I am lost!

Re: Lost - + x
you need to specify a window manager. Compiz was your last WM and you uninstalled it.
Re: Lost - + x
As grimdestripador says you need to specify a window manager. In a terminal try entering metacity --replace
Then press Alt+F2, type gconf-editor and click Run.
In gconf-editor, navigate to /desktop/gnome/session/required_components/windowmanager and replace compiz with metacity.

Re: Lost - + x
No need to re-install. Metacity WM is just fine. Other IceWM are used for low profile installations like fluxbox/xfce...

[quote]metacity --replace
Sorry but no go "command not found" . Any other ideas apart from reinstall the whole mint iso.?
