New To Mint

Postby SEGMAT on Fri Aug 03, 2007 5:57 pm

Hey Everyone,

I am new to Mint, I just switched over from Ubuntu and am going to give this a shot. I miss some things about Ubuntu and that's the point of this post. What is my best bet for a CD/DVD burning program? The package manager is overwhelming and I decided not to look through that but to ask around on the forums and then do a search in the package manager. Also, how does Amarok do with iPods? If I plug in my iPod, will it work right away?

Those are my most pressing questions, I will probably have more later but thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out with these.

Great job you guys, I'm really glad that I switched (or I will be once these questions are answered!)

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

An opinion: "brasero" in the Gnome desktop or K3b if using KDE. In fact you can use both of them in any desktop.
Sorry about the IPod. I don't use it.

I would say the same thing!

But if possible I will advise to use Gnome applications in Gnome and KDE applications in KDE (of course no rule is absolute and there are exceptions).
Each one are related to the desktop for which they are built (and some much), for example using K3b, which is very dependent on KDE, in Gnome is almost making to turn the two desktops at the same time.
