Opening Terminal Crashes X in Casandra XFCE Edition

Postby reset3x on Thu Aug 09, 2007 10:52 pm

I'm not sure if this problem is related to Xfce, Xorg or my hardware... However, when I try to open the Terminal X crashes and I end up back at the login screen. I also can't get to a terminal via ctrl-alt-F2 etc because it leaves me with multi colored vertical lines on my display..

I'm pretty positive I have Xorg configured correctly.

I was running Xubuntu with no problems at all.

The machines specs are:

Gateway Essential

Socket 370 Celeron 600

256MB RAM

15GB HDD

Intel i810E 12 MB Graphics (lshw reports 64MB?)

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Code: Select all
sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Find 'DefaultDepth' and change the value from 24 to 16.
Save, reboot. Your golden
