Hello,
I've just downloaded a pre-built VMware version of Cassandra from http://www.linuxmint.de but I couldn't find in any documents the default username and password to get into to the system. Would someone be able to help with this?

The only way you are going to find that info is to get intouch with the person who built that particular VM. And the website does not appear to have any contact info.
