was converting video using 'dos' program that ran under linux (wine). the program apparently loaded temp file somewhere that became so full that my system shut down. on reboot, when I log in as user I get message about gdm or system full or something like that. any way tofind the 'full' file and erase what is there? I don't know much how to work in the text mode in linux. can i reinstall mint or something like that without losing everything? runnels

It's not easy to help you when what happens is "something like that"
Please give us an exact description of what happens.
In the meantime you could check in /tmp to see if there's some big file....
