When i try to run sudo apt-get update it runs for a bit then gives the error below: (sources list also copied below)
I am in Japan, and after scanning it recommended i use this server. This is a new install of Mint 8 Fluxbox edition.

Is there any chance the server will ever come back up? It updates at 1,356B/s from the next quickest server from here, which is in Canada. Even short updates will take hours. The Japan server still gives the fastest time when i open synaptic with sudo and search for the best time, so it hasn't completely fallen over.

That's ridiculously slow. Try one of the USA mirrors, they are generally quite fast.

There are no USA mirrors on Fluxbox or LXDE CE editions. Only 19 servers in total show in the list, which seems very low to me.
