hello and a question about backports

Postby alexander on Sun Aug 26, 2007 9:57 pm

Been using mint for a little over a month now and figured it was time to join the community.

I have a question, what is the difference between a backport and a not backport? or more to the point what are the strengths of each? I only ask because there is a backport of exaile available through the mint software portal as well as a normal one.

Mind you both of them spit the dummy and crash half way through importing my music collection :(.
The \x05\x00\x00\ gibberish at the end goes on for a few thousand lines.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Take a look at this post. Not sure it will help with our import issue, but more information is good.

I haven't had any problems. Have you tried Amarok? Any collection import issues there?

No problems with Amarok. I removed the songs exaile was spitting the dummy however it managed to just find another 'corrupt' song to cry about while importing.

Other thread didn't seem to relate he had a depth issue :S
