Mint 9 - grub_puts not found

Post by xxxzzzxxx »

Hi

I've just installed Mint 9 to my /sdb1 HDD which is mounted to /

After taking the DVD with Mint 9 (amd64) out of my DVD Rom the system won't boot giving me the following msg;

'grub_puts' not found grub-recover

I've booted it off my install DVD again, went to find a solution but so far I have not been successful. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Did you have any other external drives attached when you installed Mint 9? The installer may have installed Grub elsewhere if you forgot to specify the location that Grub should be installed to, during the installation process.

To recover Grub (2), take a look at this link: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Grub2#Recover%2 ... a%20LiveCD

I have two internal HDDs

/dev/sda1 - 1.5TB (not mounted yet) and;
/dev/sdb1 - 1TB - this is the one I've installed the OS onto. I have allocated 100Gb for filesystem ext4, 10GB for SWAP and the rest is storage ext3

I ran a fresh install as I do not have anything stored on either drive.

I will continue reading and looking for a solution. However, I would appreciate guidance on this (will read the link you suggested). Thanks a lot.

Well, I could say I've "solved" the problem simply by formating the lot and starting from ground zero...

It is all OK now.

Thanks again.
