If your files are still ok, you should be able to get to them through the live CD graphically.
Just load the CD, then goto Computer in the mint menu and it should be listed on the left as a partition. If not, then you may be able to run on the partition to try to repair any errors or use a recovery tool but im not personally too sure on the use of either of these.
