Some web pages garbled in Mint 9
As I wander through the internet, some of the pages I come across are garbled. The pages are made up of mostly green vertical lines made up of short horizontal lines of different colors. If I refresh the page it may or may not clear up. I can go back a page then try the garbled page again and it will be ok. This never happened with Helena. Can anyone give some insight into what may be going on here?

Re: Some web pages garbled in Mint 9
It can be caused by a bug in your web browser (Firefox?) or its add-ons, graphics driver, Xorg, Compiz and even your monitor and graphic card connectors.
I had similar problem way back in Mint 6 for a very short while, but it then went away all by itself. So I never even had a chance to troubleshoot it.
Let's narrow down the list of possibilities by starting with a clean profile. Enter firefox -ProfileManager in terminal, create a new profile, then use the newly created profile to browse the web. If the problem still occurs or you're already using a clean profile, try disabling Compiz.
And, post the output of inxi -F and inxi -G.

Re: Some web pages garbled in Mint 9
Thank you garda for helping me. I did as you suggested and it seems to have helped. In ten minutes of browsing, I have not had the garbled screen. However, once or twice I noticed that as a page would load the screen would flash to that garbled looking mess for an instant and then load the page correctly. We'll see how things go. Also, here is the output for the other things you asked for. Again, thanks.

Re: Some web pages garbled in Mint 9
Unfortunately, I don't have Radeon graphics here, so I can't be of much help. But, I came across this page:
Fixing the Firefox 3 Rendering Bug: No more garbled pages and black rectangles!
The poster also has Radeon graphics.
Only the first (top) solution is applicable on Mint. And don't forget to make a backup copy of xorg.conf prior to modifying it.
