Keep Aligned rechecks itself

Keep Aligned rechecks itself

When right clicking on the desktop and unchecking "Keep Aligned" it automatically rechecks itself.

I don't like to have my icons aligned in any fashion. Can someone tell me how to make it stay unchecked?

Linux Mint 9
Gnome
Inspiron 620 - Intel Core i3-2120 Processor
2x1 TB SATA II Hard Drives
8 GB DDR3 Memory - Intel HD Graphics 2000
Mint 14 Cinnamon 64bit
