Mint 9 problems with Nvidia 8800 gt
I've just installed mint 9 and it runs well except the nvidia card isn't running in anything but failsafe mode. I've tried all three drivers and no luck, there was an error code that said '(EE)NVIDIA(0):WAIT:(E,0,0x507d,0)' don't know what that means. PLEASE HELP!!!!

ive the same card and the drivers wouldn't install untill after i went to the package manager and downloaded the ubuntu-restricted-extras, have you done that?

no right now I'm recompiling] my kernel and trying to reinstall the nvidia drivers from the nvidia website

i have a Zotac Geforce 8800gt and mine is working perfectly. I 1st install Mint, then update everything and when done restart the computer. I then log back in and install the driver by using the "Hardware Drivers" tool. I always select the "Version Current" one from the list. i then restart the computer after it has been installed.
** You dont need to install ubuntu-restricted-extras as Linux Mint has everything it contains already installed
