Installing Mint KDE on Mint Gnome 9

Post by sanjeevnewar »

I already have Mint Gnome 9 installed. I want to install Mint KDE 9 which is recently released. Is there a way I can do that in a way that I get both desktop managers on same login?

I tried installing kde from Synaptic but that installs a default kde kubuntu edition which is not the Mint version.

Please let me know how to have both installed in same way as we install ubuntu and kubuntu.

Mint is not designed to have multiple desktop environments. You can install KDE (or any other DE for that matter) but the end result won't be the same as the version on the .iso. You can install Mint KDE by adding deb http://packages.linuxmint.com isadora-kde main upstream import to your software sources then installing mint-meta-kde
