I'm having a problem where DVDs won't play on my sons Compaq Presario Laptop Computer.
Are there Codecs to be downloaded, and if so, which ones?

It might help if we knew what program you were using and what steps you had taken to try to play the DVD.
Try installing (if it isn't already installed) the VLC media player. It handled just about everything, including DVDs.
