Can you give the list of what does appear in Grub when you boot? Did Vista show up on the list with Mint 8?

You can download a bootable ISO called GAG which will let you access your Windows partition until you get Grub fixed.

Please elaborate a bit on what you just said. If you truly deleted Windows, i.e. the partition on which Windows resides, I'm afraid that there isn't a single bootloader in the world which can restore it for you.

Hi i installed Linux Mint 9, i had the dot highlighted to run side by side of windows when it asked, but it asked me something about removing something but i cannot remember what, it installed OK, but as i said vista was not on the list, got about 6 Ubuntu programs which i don't use, do you think if i could remove them vista would show in the list ? or am i stuck with the 6 programs to stay in the list

If you are using GAG, from what I understand, you have to install Grub on the Linux partition before GAG will boot that partition. I am not sure exactly what is involved in doing this, though.
