Can I turn off Firefox Java and cookies?

Post by Circ »

In Mint 9, I can't find:
1. any place to control Java
2. a way to "Ask me every time" about accepting cookies
3. how to update Firefox to a version that does the above

Why make this so hard - or am I missing something?

Thanks!

Circ,

Under "EDIT", open "Preferences". In the "Privacy" tab, under "History", there is an entry "Firefox will" with a drop down menu following. Click on the menu box and select "Use Custom Settings For History". There is no setting to make Firefox ask every time before accepting cookies, but there are several methods available to limit the cookies accepted.

To control Java, go to Tools=>Add-ons=>Plug ins. There is an entry for Java. Click on it and a "Disable" button will appear.

Firefox updates will be available in Update Manager. The latest stable release is version 3.6.9. Version 4.0 beta 3 is also available.
