[SOLVED] No Sound in Mint 9 Gnome

hi all!
i'm running mint 9 gnome for about 5-6 months and suddenly i have no sound from 2 days or so.
could you help me please?
i tried looking for aswer here and in ubuntu forum but nothing helped me.

audio device are recognized, alsamixer works and tried to switch MM, 00 in channels but nothing happened.
i must have done something wrong with settings but i have no clue on how restore them to work properly.
any helps is much appreciated. thanks in advance

Also can you provide the manufacture and whether this is a desktop or laptop. If it is a laptop do the headphones not work either?

output doesn't works with headphone neither.

well... i tried to remember what i have done in this days that could be somehow critic for the system... maybe could help...
1- installed Fluxbox on Mint
2- partitioned HD for a dual boot with Crunchbang Statler 10 openbox and reconfigured Grub after no booting session.

Have you tried setting it to another audio out option such as OSS?
