maximum addressable ram

Post by MintLovin »

What is the maximum addressable ram for linux mint 8? I have 3.5gb of ram. Is my system using all of it? i am looking for ram info - minimum required, max addressable, ALSO - is there a system scanner like that at Crucial.com that will tell you specifically what you have, how many slots, what you can upgrade, etc.

The maximum addressable ram in Mint 8 32 bit without addition of a PAE module to the kernel is approximately 3.2-3.3 GB. Onboard graphics cards (like Intel) that share program memory will reduce the ram available for general operation.

64 bit systems can address well over 100 GB of ram (I think it's over 1 TB) natively.
