Will LinuxMint integrate Ubuntu Fonts

Post by Eucalyptus »

Hi,

In future LM versions, would you integrate Ubuntu fonts? They are a little bit bolder and I find they are better for my eyesight.

Thanks for any info

Mint uses the same fonts as Ubuntu already. Any difference you perceive is purely in your mind.

One would assume that LM10 will include the Ubuntu font, but the older ones won't, just as Lucid and older don't.

Oh crap, why didn't I check before? After reading your answer, I went to Preference/ Appearance and saw the Ubuntu font. For some reason, it's not used by default so I just wrongly assumed that Mint team had excluded it.

Sorry for not followup. I changed the fonts to Ubuntu (in Prerefence / Appearance). However, this seems not affect the Gnome menu and the text in the top panel. The font still looks small (I use standard Gnome menu). What should I do change the font & size in Gnome menu?

Thanks

The panel / menu font sizes are probably set in the theme files. Look at what theme
you have, go to /usr/share/themes/YOUR_THEMES_NAME and edit the text files
inside the gtk-2.0 folder. Search for "font" inside the text or something like that.
I'm not sure about that one, but there should be something setting the panel font
size. I think the default theme is called Mint X?
