Formating
In Ubuntu I can right click on my usb drive and format, and with Gparted I can unmount usb and also format.
In Linux Mint these options are not available or greyed out.
How can I change it so I can format usb flash drive

Re: Formating
I buy 4 Gb USB flash-drives by the case. No. Really.
When I need to re-format a flash-drive ... I use the gParted partition editor.
On the upper right-hand corner, of gparted, where the 'drive is listed' you can click on the down-arrow.
All the connected drives should be listed, including the flash-drive. Highlight the USB drive and select to format.
Depending on what you are going to be using the USB flash-drive for as to what to format it to . . . if it will be used for both Linux and Windows, I select 'format as' fat32.
Or you can actually format the USB flash-drive as a 'partition'

Re: Formating
Problem solved.
Was able to format usb by using vrkalak's suggestion.
Simply open gparted, click on gparted on top left of menu, select devices, select usb device.
Then go to main window highlight usb device, right click and select format.
Or you can go to menu at top and select partition, and then delete.
Go back to partition and create new.
