[SOLVED] Comming from openSuse 11.2

Post by alquimista »

Hi,

I have been using openSuse 11.2 for some months on my desktop PC, where I have a Win XP partition, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB HD, Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Motherboard; openSuse is fine, yet I still have some problems with software to manage my video and audio podcasts; I have not been able to install Miro, nor Rythmbox; Banshee works just partially, have some problems with Wine...

I'd like to try Mint KDE; I'm a KDE user. On my home directory, I have Kopete, Chrome, Thunderbird data... Is it possible to keep this information on home, and just format the root directory for Mint? I don't want to loose installed software data, and keep using it on Mint; would it be possible? or would I have to format "home" as well so Mint can work ok?

Thank you

If you are switching from KDE to KDE , than your desktop settings will be on the /home partition.
Also your Kopete , Crhome and Thunderbird files should still be there.
But Mint applications would have to be installed , as Mint uses the APT system, which is not compatible with the RPM application install system.
