Mint does see sda6,
Even though Gparted sees all my partitions, Mint only sees five of them. I'm posting this from Ubuntu, so will have to give particular information in a following post. But my memory is that sda, sda1, sda2, sda3 and sda7 are seen, but not, for example, sda6. I get the same thing when I ls -al /dev/sda* Very puzzling to me.

then when you are in Mint, do the same, then we can compare the two.
