Problems viewing image files moved between computers.

Post by jandersatl »

I saved some images on my desktop computer, and moved them to my laptop via usb stick. Perhaps I should mention that my login name and password is the same on both computers. On my laptop, I can view the files on nautilus and dolphin no problem. However, they simply do not show up in gthumb. I moved them to my desktop, and I can see other files there, but not these. I can even select 'open with gthumb' from the right-click menu and view them in gthumb, but I cannot get the damn thumbnails to show up in the gtumb browser. Don't know if it is an ownership issue, or permissions, or something else. with my limited knowledge, I can only check so much. If I right-click and open the files, I can 'save as' and rename them, but that is going to take a while to do one at a time. Any ideas? thanks in advance

-Linux Mint 9 isadora 32-bit
-Gthumb 2.10.11

It sounds like it might be a permissions issue. The quick and dirty solution is to format your stick to FAT32 which doesn't have permissions built into it(so permissions becomes a non-issue) and redo the transfer.
