Using a LiveDVD-R?

Post by TheAdMint »

I was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade from using a 700mb LiveCD to run the applicable version of mint10 to upgrading to a DVD-R to rune the full version? Will I be able to use all of the extra space available? Increase speed/performance?

Sorry if this isn't perfectly straightforward!

this is kind of hard to understand do you want to make a persistent thumb drive ? or do you want to just use a DVD ?

I was wondering if it was worth making a DVD copy since I have so little space on my LiveCD, or how i could download/use applications without it, such as with a thumbdrive.

If you are only planning on running Linux Mint Live, the only space you need to consider is the amount of RAM. A Livd DVD has a few extra small application tools.
But if your are planning on INSTALLING Linux Mint on your hard drive, then if you used a CD installer, after installatiion the system will continue to install further applications on line, and you end up with as many applications as the DVD but takes a little longer to complete the installation.
With a hard drive installatiion you can add further applications as you wish, using its software manager.
