I've been setting up a new Dell Vostro to dual boot Win 7 and Mint 9.
Yesterday I got it all installed and updated and it was working fine.
This morning I clicked the Hardware Drivers button, and installed a
Broadcom wireless driver and a Nvidia driver to allow compiz to work.
Now I can't start Mint, either normally or in Recovery mode, I just get a blank
screen and it locks up. I can start Mint with a live CD though and the Win 7 part.
I can also hit C to get the command line while it's waiting to start.
Is there a way I can uninstall the Nvidia or easily fix this problem?
Thanks

Re: Mint 9 won't run after installing Hardware Drivers
Here's an update.
There are loads of threads on the forums about how the Nvidia drivers
mess up the X server, (wish I had read that before I loaded the driver).
I've tried editing the xorg.conf file, putting “nv” and “vesa” in the
section device driver part. Nothing has changed, I still can't
start Mint normally or in the recovery mode.
I can run a live cd, which is how I edited the xorg.conf file.
Maybe it's a Grub problem?
Oh well, back to the drawing board.
Any ideas or advice greatly received.
