Unfortunately both desktops (Gnome & XFCE) suffer from graphics hiccups every few minutes.
Machine specs
Dell 1545
Intel core 2 duo T6400 @ 2 ghz
2mb cache
Intel GM45 graphics
Update: I eventually installed Mint 10. So far it has worked w/o problems.

It could be any number of reasons but in Isadora (as well as Julia) I would recommend setting it to just 1 & 2 updates as 3 may cause problems these are not stable
