The upgrade should be fairly painless, there are walkthroughs around.
The final version will be out when they iron out all the kinks. I would guess Jan? Just a hunch though, the actual people doing it will be able to tell you more (look in release notes...might be there)
I wouldn't know about the wireless, but If you can do it in suse, then you probably will be able to do it in mint! If you stick on mint, welcome!
