HI, i am creating a distro based on mint, But have a problem

HI guys, I am creating a distro based on mint. I have changed everything, but i want to know what is .mint extension? how do i extract it and change icons etc? i believe it is a mint package installer? if i leave it as is wont i be violating any copyright of Mint? I need answers

Don't quote me on this but isn't mint, Ubuntu ect... GNU so you are free to use or modify anything. I could be wrong maybe somewhere more knowledgeable will chime in.

Just curious - what is the main idea of your - on Mint based distro? What would be so significant about it?

It will be a custom distro completly on my native language. i am thinking to translate the distro and packages to my native language. this is what i was thinking.
